We are seeing the return of investment dressing in the fashion world and one of the best lifetime wardrobe investments that you can make is a perfectly tailored suit. The fall collections proved over and over again that a women’s pantsuit can be far from stuffy.
From gold brocade to updated pinstripes, Balmain showed an array of chic suits that still fit their rock and roll image.

Chloe showed relaxed, menswear inspired suits this season that definitely called upon the spirit of the late 70s.

I love this all leather, three piece suit at Hermes.

Doo.Ri’s suits were very wearable and youthful. I love the slim cropped pant and the updated simple navy suit with draped detail.

Elie Tahari belted wrap jackets make the suits look effortless & chic.

Givenchy’s cherry red suit is obviously not for the shy, but with simple styling it could be very wearable.

No. 21’s debut collection showed a classic camel suit with a bright pop of fuschia.

For fall, numerous designers collections were ripe with divine inspiration; floor grazing black skirts, crisp white button downs, religious iconography, demure capes, and even habits.
Yves Saint Laurent kept this trend modern by adding pops of color, slim pencil skirts, and sky high pumps.

Bottega Veneta’s floorlength, waist-tied gowns mimicked religious robes.

Alexander McQueen’s final collection captured dark age beauty. His fabric was printed with photographs and painting of high-church angels and Bosch demons.

The Row’s fall collection had it’s own biblical references; simple sandals and stark minimalism.

BURBERRY PRORSUM
As always, Christopher Baily delivered amazing outerwear for Burberry Prorsum.

ANTONIO BERARDI
The straightforward, gorgeous cuts at Berardi channeled 70’s Yves Saint Laurent. Love the mix of feminine & masculine.

CHRISTOPHER KANE
I liked Kane’s floral embroidery and sweet feminine shapes contrasted with the use of tough black leather.

Jeffrey Campbell why must you keep making disposable, cheap, near carbon copies of high-end footwear?

Though I feel that the collections this season (at New York Fashion Week) have been disappointing there have been a few high points.
Altuzarra’s amazing tailoring, commanding outerwear, sexy cuts, & attention to detail made this collection one of the front runners so far this season.

The use of fur at Dennis Basso was absolutely fabulous. The styling is impeccable.

Proenza Schouler’s sky high hemlines, updated 1960’s shapes, and graphic, graffiti prints keep the brands it-factor alive. The little black dresses in the beginning of the collection are sweet, chic, and completely wearable.

The Row’s debut runway collection featured some great, very wearable, versatile, neutral pieces, they are classic with edge. The Olsen’s said that they wanted to create something “low-key and to the point” I think that they pulled that off fabulously.

Model Karmen Pedaru’s style is chic, unfussy, and monochromatic. Pedaru is body conscious with her looks but they still appear effortless.

I particularly love the first look, not only for the jawdropping Balmain jacket but for what she paired it with; a loose t-shirt dress, simple opaque tights, and motorcycle boots (of course her killer legs don’t hurt).

Pedaru’s Balmain foldover boots are perfect with these ultra slim leather pants, and her cropped fur. I also love the hint of plaid underneath, it keeps her look casual.

The same fur as above looks chic with motorcycle skinnies and a basic white tee.

This last look is also a favorite of mine. I love the proportions of her slouchy boyfriend blazer, slim fitting leather pants, and motorcycle boots. Her Chanel 2.55 takes the look up a notch.
